Some Free Time Tonight

I took advantage of some free time tonight and I wandered down to the Metreon to go see Star Trek. Since my daughter was been born I have been missing out on the summer movies this year so it was a good treat. I may go try and sneak away one night after dinner/sessions and go see Up. Or maybe I can get one of the other conference guys to go with me.

I am not really sure about the movie itself though. I might have to see it again on disc. The alternate timeline stuff in it allows some flexibility in the characters, but it seemed a little weird to me. The characters were saying their traditional lines, but it didn't completely feel like Star Trek to me. It is no that I hated it, I am just on the fence with the re-imagining. I am going to wait to pass full judgement until I see the movie again.

Of course I remember why I don't go to movies in the theater when there is any chance that a teenager is there. The theater was pretty full with people. This teenage couple were sitting next to me cutely flirting with each other, but they were talking louder than the movie at some points. Thankfully it was mostly at the beginning.

Apple sent out an email today for a special WWDC app that you can only download from ADC (not from iTunes) and then provision your phone with some key. It is pretty nice app. I am not sure I am liking the icon for the app. It looks like it is 4 kids blocks rather than 4 iPhone buttons.

Tomorrow is the big Keynote. Let's hope there are goodies on a number of fronts (Snow Leopard, iPhone, Programming Stuff).
